Reservation & payment
A $300 nonrefundable reservation fee holds the opening and is credited to the first month. The remaining balance is due when the horse arrives; additional months are prepaid. Training is not prorated.
Additional services
Hauling and special care are billed separately. Seven days' pickup notice is required, and the account must be paid in full before the horse is released.
Training schedules and progress are subject to the horse's health, weather, and facility conditions. Results cannot be guaranteed. McDermett Horsemanship reserves the right to refuse or discontinue training on a horse that presents an unreasonable safety risk.

A little backstory before I start this review...
At 56 years young, I bought my very first horse. I had some riding experience — enough to stay in the saddle — but I quickly learned there was so much I didn’t know. Along the way, I ran into several dishonest people and was given a lot of bad advice. I spent thousands of dollars on saddles I was told didn’t fit Opie correctly, and for 7 months I simply bonded with him without ever riding him.
I was close to giving up on the dream of riding altogether and accepting that I had bought myself a very large dog. But truthfully, Opie had already become so much more than that. He became my emotional support animal. Even without riding him, the depression I had struggled with seemed to fade after he came into my life.
One day, I decided to saddle him up and take a chance. The moment I mounted, Opie bolted across the arena. That was the moment I realized we both needed help.
Opie was skittish, afraid of the mounting block, and startled at every little sound. While scrolling Facebook one day, I came across Tyler advertising training services, and something told me to send him a message.
We spoke in November and from the very beginning Tyler assured me he could help. We scheduled Opie’s pickup for December 1st, but as the date got closer, I became more and more reluctant to let him go. I kept postponing it because I was terrified of sending away a horse I had become so emotionally attached to.
After two months, I finally found the courage.
The day Tyler picked Opie up, I couldn’t stop crying. Tyler was incredibly kind, patient, and reassuring. Throughout the entire process, he kept me updated, involved me in Opie’s progress, and even had me come work on my own riding — always making sure I felt safe and comfortable.
After 90 days, Opie came home a completely different horse.
Now he calmly side-steps to the mounting block, carries himself with confidence, responds beautifully to commands, and even lays down so I can mount from the ground. The side-step training has even helped me teach him how to open and close gates.
Most importantly, Tyler was the first truly honest person I met during this entire journey. I genuinely believe God put him in our path when we needed him most.
I will forever be grateful for Tyler, his patience, his integrity, and his incredible talent. He didn’t just help train my horse — he gave me the confidence and joy to finally enjoy the horse I dreamed of having.

Tyler is absolutely amazing with horses! He is completely honest person and will give you an honest answer on your horse. We sent my Gypsy to him a couple of years ago and he was calm with her and let her learn the things she needed to know with a calm and nurturing attitude instead of just strong handling her. Tyler reminds me of the horse whisperer lol!!! I have so much faith in his abilities that I am bringing my new stud Little Spicy to him. Ok so I would like to say that I’m very happy that I found Tyler to help get our colt’s started under saddle. We have started 2 colt’s with him.
I’m impressed with the ground work he does with them before he ever steps upon one. He try’s to have a good understanding of the horses on the ground first.
Once he steps up on them he has an extremely soft hand and doesn’t try to pull their head off if they try to move off from him.
I will be bringing all my young horses to him to start and I’m planning on taking some of my others to him for a tuneup.
I highly recommend Tyler.
